08/04/2013 – Monday

1. Once again after numerous correspondence since October 2011 an email was sent to Yussuf Gaffore Acting Director Roads and Storm water to have the fencing at Victoria and Wasley Street removed.
2. There was a report of noise disturbance at Legends on the corner of Eastbourne and Westbourne Roads. This was in turn reported to Noise Pollution, Liquor Board, SAPS, Safety and Security, The City Manager and the Mayor. An official from the Metro met with Mr Stoltz, the owner of Legends, who apologized. This complaint will be followed up with further inspection.
3. South City Brokers phoned at 18:55 to report that cars were blocking their exit. Cllr Davis phoned Pat Gounder, Traffic, who sent officers out within ten minutes.
4. Proof of address for Hlobo Siyanotanda.

09/04/2013 – Tuesday

1. An abandoned car was once again reported at the bottom of Mackay Street, Richmond Hill.
2. Mrs Buchner from Little Cherub came to see the Cllr regarding the Special Consent to run her business which is being questioned. Cllr phoned the Human Settlements Directorate and made an appointment for next week with Debbie Hendricks from the Town Planning Department to discuss Mrs Buchner’s application which has met all conditions and requirements.
3. Street lights not working in Clevedon Road were reported to Electricity – waiting for a reference number.

10/04/2013 – Wednesday

1. Cllr Davis reported a corrugated garage structure exceeding the building line which has been erected at 50 Green Street to the Building Inspectorate.
2. Cllr spoke to the manager at Q Bar in Parliament Street, Central. He requested that the clients be warned not to park where they block the entrance to South City Brokers. The manager was warned that fines will be issued.
3. The large hole in the pavement at the Pedestrian traffic lights in Rink Street, Central was reported to Roads and Storm water requesting that this be reinstated.

11/04/2013 – Thursday

1. Cllr Davis attended the handing over of a wheelchair to Doreen Russeau at Joy Haven. Cllr Davis was instrumental in sourcing the wheelchair for this elderly and frail lady.
2. Cllr Davis attended the Human Settlements meeting at City Hall.
3. A complaint was received about squatters taking over the derelict building at the corner of Tulla and Will Streets, Richmond Hill. Cllr Davis requested Col Houwland of Humewood SAPS to investigate. A van was sent out. Cllr Davis also spoke to Armand van Gent, Humewood SAPS intelligence, who has undertaken to patrol this location regularly.

12/04/2013 – Friday

1. Reported the street lights in Clevedon Road not working (JOC reference number 371297) to Richard Harris.
2. Cllr Davis arranged for Dr Mitchell to visit Doreen Russeau at Joy Haven to complete a medical report so that Doreen can be housed at the Echo Foundation Frail Care.
3. Upton’s furnishers reported dumping of a sofa across from their premises. Cllr Davis met with Yussuf Cassim to have it seen to.
4. Rob’s and Bob’s were displaying stock on the pavement. They were given a warning by Yussuf Cassim.
5. Clrr Davis reported the missing drain cover at the ATM in Westbourne Road.

7. Cllr Davis visited 39 Havelock Street, Central where there are still car repairs going on. This will be their last week as they are moving. Elvis was informed – 041 506 2253
8. Cllr Davis reported to Richard Harris, Electricity, that the street lights in Havelock Street were out as well as some premises had no electricity supply.
9. At 18:15 Cllr Davis received a report of a water leak in Target Kloof. He phoned Cllr Hayselden (Ward 3) who would deal with it.
10. Cllr Davis reported a sewerage leak in Military Road (ref: 367055)
11. Cllr Davis visited 28 Lansdowne place (erf 940) who have applied for rezoning rom Res 3 to Bus 3 as well as Council’s Special Consent to permit the property to be used for offices and a licensed restaurant.
12. Cllr Davis reported a large hole at the corner of Lutman and Edward Streets, Richmond Hill.
13. Cllr visited 34 Campbell Street – the agents KG’s Properties who have advised that the tenants are leaving and renovations will then be undertaken. This building is in a very poor state and requires extensive maintenance and repairs.
14. Cllr Davis visited Clampett Park, where vagrants have taken up occupancy and are doing their washing etc. One of them threatened a resident in Dickens Street with a broken bottle. Cllr Davis phoned Col Houwland at Humewood SAPS, who undertook to send a van to the site. Cllr Davis then stopped and spoke to Col Iberson from Humewood SAPS, who was in the area and he spoke to the people in the park telling them not to sleep or stay in the park.
