MyPE Copyright Terms

Creative Commons License
MyPE is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
Attribution URL: http://www.mype.co.za.
For permissions beyond the scope of this license please read on.

Ja, but what does the above really mean?

See below:

At MyPE, our goal is to promote Port Elizabeth, it’s citizens, sport, culture and business, and we encourage you to share MyPE articles and images widely. Any use of MyPE material has to follow the terms of our Creative Commons license “Attribution – NonCommercial – NonDerivative” and also the guidelines below, which may be updated from time to time.

If you have any further questions after reviewing this, please contact MyPE.

Is MyPE material copyrighted?
Yes. Creative Commons licensing doesn’t replace copyright – which remains undivided with MyPE – but it makes the terms more flexible.

What does the MyPE Creative Commons license allow?
We make MyPE material available under the Creative Commons license “Attribution – NonCommercial – NonDerivative” in order to allow non-commercial entities (bloggers, educators, groups of friends) to use them freely and easily. But important restrictions apply, particularly for corporations.

MyPE’s Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license allows you to display MyPE material under the following conditions:

  • Attribution (BY): You must explicitly reference MyPE as the original source of the materials, and MyPE’s logos within videos and images as well as those of the MyPE material sponsors remain untouched and unedited.
  • NonCommercial (NC): You can’t use MyPE material (or any parts of them) for commercial purposes. If you are a company wishing to use MyPE content/images, you will require a Distribution Partner License Agreement with MyPE. Please contact MyPE to explore this opportunity.
  • NonDerivative (ND): You cannot alter the content/images in any way. This means you cannot edit, remix, cut, shorten, add overlays to them, or, well, alter them in any way.

These conditions can be modified only by explicit permission of the copyright holder (MyPE). The complete text of the license can be seen on the Creative Commons (CC) license.

Additional guidelines applicable to the use of MyPE material

Please review the notes below:

Can I repost or republish MyPE material (content/images) on my site or blog?
Yes, as long as you follow the guidelines below:

  • Type of site/company: Bloggers, news/information websites and nonprofits (by which we mean: registered 501(c)3 organizations in the United States, and the equivalent in all other countries), may make MyPE material available under a Creative Commons (CC) license, provided they follow the rest of the guidelines on this page.
  • Attribution: You must add a visible link back to www.MyPE.co.za
  • You may NOT embed, frame or use any such techniques to display MyPE pages or content on your site.
  • Clicking on any attribution link must take the reader directly to MyPE and the original content.

You may not edit or alter MyPE material in any way. If you would like to notify us of how and where you share MyPE content then please contact MyPE with the exact URL. We like to showcase and link back to sites that share Port Elizabeth and MyPE in a positive manner.

Can I show MyPE material during my conference/talk/presentation?
Yes, as long as it’s within the scope of a non-commercial event, and as long as you comply with the terms of the Creative Commons license outlined above (“What does the MyPE Creative Commons license allow?”. In particular, the material must be shown unedited. If you wish to use MyPE material in a commercial context, please contact us with a motivated request for permission.

Can I use MyPE material in my classroom?
Yes, as long as you comply with the terms of the Creative Commons license outlined above (See: “What does the MyPE Creative Commons license allow?”). Many teachers use MyPE material to stimulate discussions with students or to complement course materials, and we encourage you to do so as well.

Can I re-edit and remix MyPE material?
No. Our Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license (See: “What does the MyPE Creative Commons license allow?”) clearly states that “derivative works” of any kind (edits, cuts, re-mixes, mashups, etc.) are not allowed without explicit permission from MyPE.

Can I translate MyPE material?
Yes.

May I use MyPE material on a television channel?
If you are a public or private broadcaster or cable network and wish to create a television series based on MyPE material, you would require a Distribution Partner License Agreement. Please contact MyPE to explore the opportunity.
