As published on Herald Live on 14 May 2021 and written by Khusta Jack:It is a government responsibility to create policies that will make us a wealthy nation so as to guarantee our children a better future than ours, writes Khusta Jack The government gazetted the policy of the Reconstruction & Development Programme (RDP) in 1994. Why Ace and His Buddies Still Receive Their Salaries after ‘Step Aside’
One is sure that this ‘news’ will not endear Ace to his many employees who are fearful of receiving salaries…South African Labour Law acknowledges two types of suspension: The first type of suspension is a ‘holding operation’ where the suspension is not designed to impose discipline, but is rather for reasons of good administration. The second type of suspension serves as a form of disciplinary action. In the case of Ace Magashule and his buddies the first type of suspension applies as their … [Read more...] about Why Ace and His Buddies Still Receive Their Salaries after ‘Step Aside’
Shocking – The Percentage Increase in Basic Tariffs Over a 10 Year Period
Across the board all municipal services have increased in price well above the rate of consumer price inflation over the past 10 years, making it clear that affordability is not a priority in the current system. The South African Reserve Bank reported the following increases in municipal services costs over the ten-year period from 2010 to 2020 (during which period the increase in headline consumer inflation was 68 per cent): Rates and taxes: +118 per cent Electricity: +177 per cent Water: +213 … [Read more...] about Shocking – The Percentage Increase in Basic Tariffs Over a 10 Year Period
In Simplicity We WILL Find Our Way
My idea to show the Citizens of Nelson Mandela Bay that our local leaders mean business is quite simple. After the 27 October 2021 elections: All Councillors sit in council according to their Ward number and NOT according to party All Councillors vote based on their ward constituents wishes and what is best for the City – EVEN if it is to the detriment of their personal or party goals. Are you holding your breath? Tell Your Mates:Like this:Like Loading... Related Ward 7 Independent Councillor … [Read more...] about In Simplicity We WILL Find Our Way
What are our political choices in South Africa?
Let’s look at the Top Three: A party mired in coruption and stealing and lean on fulfilling promises 27 years later A party forever tainted with the legacy of apartheid A Right Wing Militant party hell bent on Nationalisation NOW do you understand why the 2nd party in question may just have reached it’s peak – no-one from the first party will change their vote as they still believe that their party of choice will keep the apartheid dogs away. On the other hand the 3rd party of choice continues … [Read more...] about What are our political choices in South Africa?
Amandla! Awethu! – Power! Who the Farg To?
I heard the famous anti-apartheid slogan; “Amandla” with it’s reply; “Awethu” this morning at a rally held by a political party not well known for it’s anti-apartheid struggle contribution – in fact it was born after the end of apartheid…Amandla means “power”. The word was a popular rallying cry in the days of resistance against apartheid, used by the African National Congress and its allies. The leader of a group would call out “Amandla!” and the crowd would respond with “Awethu” or “Ngawethu!” … [Read more...] about Amandla! Awethu! – Power! Who the Farg To?
I am under no illusions
Consider this: As an independent under the banner of a brand new movement – AIM (Abantu Integrity Movement) – the chances of winning election as a Ward Councillor in Ward 7 are slim.In fact I tell my mates the following; “I am under no illusion of winning a seat – in Ward 7 80% of the voters voted for the DA in 2016!” – quite big odds to go up against you would agree. BUT A mate of mine wrote back to me recently in response to my summation of the situation saying; “And little difference that … [Read more...] about I am under no illusions
Lets Come Clean on Political Party Tithing
ll political parties levy a tithe on their elected officials monthly salaries, along with a ‘candidate fee’ on the first months salary. In most cases a portion of the tithe is retained locally with the bulk going to the National Offices. Most elected officials remain tight lipped about the tithe and the amount thereof. Some reports state that the DA Elected Officials tithe 3% with ‘something to the local branch’ whilst the AND Elected Officials tithe 5%. Strictly speaking the word ‘tithe’ is … [Read more...] about Lets Come Clean on Political Party Tithing
NMB – It is Possible to Change the Circle of Chaos!
Regrettably Nelson Mandela Bay finds itself in a political Circle of Chaos. And citizens are AIMing to turn that Circle of Chaos into a Circle of Competence. Our local political landscape is fraught with infighting, one upmanship and greed. We have have more Mayors in the past four years than steak dinners. Each successive political party that gains the reins attempts to impose their National Political will upon Council and the resistance to change is high. As the seats and power changes all that … [Read more...] about NMB – It is Possible to Change the Circle of Chaos!
Fear Not Said He For Mighty Dread Had Seized the Municipal Employee Mind
Read on to discover my one discriminatory flaw!If we have any hope of moving forward in pride, love and prosperity in Nelson Mandela Bay then we need to ensure that those entrusted with the nuts and bolts of the running of our city are NOT fearful of their continued employment and also AIM for that Change. A corrupt government is one that runs employees on fear – fear of losing their jobs should they not support the ruling party is the most corrupt relationship we can ever have. Over the years … [Read more...] about Fear Not Said He For Mighty Dread Had Seized the Municipal Employee Mind
