Further to our notifications in this regard over the last few days, following repairs to the system being carried out by the National Department of Water and Sanitation, you are kindly informed of the following:
- The repairs reported in the media statement on 20 March 2015 have been successfully carried out.
- Water has now been released into the canal that is feeding the Scheepervalkte Dam from where the NMBM draws its water.
- It is expected that our system will be up to maximum treatment capacity by tomorrow (Thursday) evening. It will then take about another two hours to refill the reservoirs.
- Two areas that were particularly affected during this time were Reservoir Hills and Khayamnandi. These areas returned to normal today.
- KwaNobuhle also ran low on water overnight and should start to recover by this afternoon.
- Consumers are still urged to use water sparingly.
- Also note that the water currently might be a bit discoloured due to residue from the reservoirs, but we assure you that the water remains 100% safe to drink.
We take this opportunity to thank all our residents for having used water sparingly over the last few days, which has made a positive difference in ensuring that the reservoirs did not run completely dry over this period.
