The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has issued notices of intention to suspend six employees from the Electricity and Energy Directorate. This action follows allegations of gross misconduct related to the unauthorised placement of orders for copper cables and wires, amounting to over R10 million.
The Municipality is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability. These allegations are being taken very seriously, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to ensure that all facts are established, and appropriate action is taken.
The Municipality remains dedicated to serving the Nelson Mandela Bay community with transparency and diligence. We assure the public that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future and to uphold the trust placed in us by the residents of Nelson Mandela Bay.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
