Due to a Chemical Dosing Equipment malfunction the taste of municipal supplied water in several areas in Uitenhage currently has a metal or iron taste as a result of a low pH level.
Although the supply is still considered safe to drink, workers of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Water and Sanitation sub-directorate are working around the clock to rectify the situation.
The equipment has been delivered and additional chemicals will be circulated in the system.
We envisaged the problem to be solved by this afternoon and it will then take about 48 hours before the water will have its normal taste when consumed.
We are aware that the Rosedale, Winterhoek Park, Vanes Estate, Scheepershoogte and Leveyvale amongst others are affected by this problem.
