Published on 4 September 2013 the video shows the SA National Anthem being sung before the rugby game between South Africa and England in Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 23 June 2012.

Some of the comments:

kusiima Amdrew: “WHO KNEW THAT WHITE PEOPLE ONE DAY WILL SING NKOSI SIKELEL? a song once they called for terrorists and scoundrels! This teaches me that there is nothing impossible to change or do in this world! God bless Nelson Mandela RIP.God bless Africa.”

Strigo Viro: “One of my favourite national anthems of ANY country, and although I’m not a South African I have learnt ALL the language parts and can sing them in solidarity and pride with my South African brothers and sisters of ALL backgrounds, races, and religions. I hope to one day visit SA and attend a game and sing in the stadium with all my South African friends! Cheers!”

Sabine aus MG: “I am German and I think it’s one of the most amazing national anthems! The five mostly spoken languages put together in one song – I hope that one day they stand united and live and strive for freedom and peace in South Africa, their land! Best wishes from Germany! English lyrics: “God bless Africa! May her dignity be lifted up! Hear our prayers, Lord! Bless us, your children/family! Lord, protect our nation, banish all wars and hardships! Protect it, this nation of ours, the nation of South Africa! From the blue of our heavens, from the depths of our sea over our eternal mountains where the cliffs give answer sounds the call to come together and united we shall stand! Let us live and strive for freedom in South Africa, our land!”

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
