More Lambs to the Bitch Slapping Fest

You would think that mature adults would stop and think before just using a form to send unsolicited marketing messages.

Yesterday we had a local Port Elizabeth business trying to sell software to businesses listed in the MyPE Directory.

Today I came across someone trying to peddle “Kick you in the Shin Classes”. Now Bruce Lee and I are tight and my mate Julie down at Julies Pub is known to kick off her shoes and do a little bit of Martial Arts so undeterred I enquired from this spammer (without her knowing who or what I was) where in Port Elizabeth she lived.

I received a reply.

In order to protect the guilty I am not going to show you the reply from Spammer Number 2, but, I am going to show you MY reply to her:

Please be aware that every e-mail message sent from the MyPE directory has the following note: “The email message below is delivered via your business detail page on the MyPE Business Directory. If you consider this to be spam please immediately forward this to alan[at]mype.co.za.”

Now please think about how you crafted your message and about the potential damage that your message has done to your attempts to grow your business, not to mention the damage to MyPE as people complain about your SPAM which they will say comes from MyPE and NOT you.

Rather use one of the myriad acceptable methods available for FREE to people wanting to promote themselves:

  1. The free MyPE Business Directory
  2. The free MyPE Classified Ads
  3. The free Press Release Submission

You could make the situation a lot better by thinking before you act.

Also, one piece of advice – in my previous e-mail my asking you where you lived had nothing to do with the subject and you just gave me your address – I am shocked. Do not do that until you know you can trust the person you are communicating with.
