The ‘Last of the Holiday’ Ocean Racing Series Results

By

Sunday 8 January saw the 7th round of the Weekend Post Ocean Racing Series taking place on Hobie Beach with hundreds of people from around the Eastern Cape in attendance. The second half of Season 7 kicked off with the last Dischem 2km Ocean Swim as this discipline now increases to a 3km swim from round 8 in two weeks time. The Jones boys continued where they left off by dominating the Dis-Chem swims with Wayne winning the 2km swim and Jason getting the better of Daniel in the 1km swim.

“Sunday’s event was very well attended with over 300 participants packing Hobie Beach and enjoying, for most, the last weekend of the holidays” said Series organiser Mike Zoetmulder of Zports.

The Ocean Racing Series, dubbed Africa’s largest Family lifestyle beach event has become increasingly popular this season for the Kingfisher FM Kids 12u beach run / walk with close on 100 kids taking part on race weekends. On Sunday Joshua Voigt and Jamie Bulbring won the 8u Beach Run with Nicholas Kingston and Jade Voigt winning the 10u category and Brad Breetzke and Chane van de Watt taking the 12u age group.

The next race in the Series takes place on Sunday 22nd January with online registration recommended.
