Nelson Mandela Bay’s unique Swim-Run event, the City Lodge Hotels Group 3 Beaches Challenge, will show off the 3 main stretches of metro beachfront this Sunday morning. After an eventful start, Africa’s largest family beach event has reached the final four races of the season. The 6-month long series, which was scheduled to kick off on the 6th of October, was hampered by winds in excess of 60km/h which led to the eventual cancellation of the first round. Despite the forecast of horrific weather for the Bay, which didn't materalise, a record entry of just under 250 participants took part in Sunday's City Lodge Hotels Group 3 Beaches Challenge from Nelson Mandela Bay’s Pollok Beach. Excitement is building for the second SPAR River Paddle Challenge which takes place in the Swartkops River estuary on November 24. The 13th Season of the popular aQuellé Ocean Racing Series came to an end on Sunday morning bring the total number of entries this season to 3,857. The Series, which is unique to Nelson Mandela Bay, consisted of 11 race days taking place on mostly alternate Sunday mornings between October 2017 and April 2018. Nelson Mandela Bay's unique beach event, the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series, concluded Season 13 on Sunday morning (today) with just over 300 participants taking full advantage of the perfect beach conditions ahead of next weekend's premier triathlon event. It's unique to Nelson Mandela Bay and has become a summer institution for fitness enthusiasts from around the country but this Sunday will be the last race morning for this Summer. The 10th round of the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series Season 13 took place in windy conditions on Sunday morning at Hobie Beach with around 300 entries across the 7 events being contested.
