Following the success of the public beach clean up held in July, The Boardwalk, Pick n Pay and Boardwalk Mall are appealing to Gqeberha residents to assist them again on Saturday, 19 October at Hobie Beach from 9am to 11am. Contractor Appointed to Salvage Hobie Beach Grounded Vessel
In a statement released today the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) have confirmed the incident at Hobie Beach where vessel F/V Alley Cat ran aground. All authorities have been notified and have responded accordingly. At this stage, the vessel owner has confirmed that a contractor has been appointed to manage the necessary salvage arrangements. Sunday’s Ocean Racing Series saw over 500 entrants packing out Hobie Beach to take advantage of the near perfect beach conditions. Round 4 of the fortnightly Series enjoyed visitor participation from Limpopo, Norway, United Kingdom and Australia on Sunday and showed off the city’s Premier Blue Flag beach at its best. A packed attendance for round 6 of the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series - Season XI welcomed in the first race of the new year with 533 entries further boosting the Series as Africa's largest family beach event.
