The Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Cllr Zanoxolo Wayile, has appealed for peace, calm and tolerance between the communities of Uitenhage following events over the past week, which inter alia saw the shop of a Somali burn down and the rifling of the possessions of other shop owners. Sound Familiar? We Want the Mayor Out!
So the calls to get rid of yet another Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor are increasing. Since the days of Nceba Faku we have yet to see a Mayor actually serve his or her term out completely. Let's just pause and re-examine that phrase; "serve his or her term" - an accepted way of describing the holding of office by a public official. Orchestrated political crises in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality
Dear Editor The letter of the Executive Mayor to comrade Derek Hanekom published on the 20th October 2011 Herald newspaper is a cause for serious concern to me as a member of this great movement, the African National Congress. I found the contents of the letter misleading and dangerous to the unity of our organization. The contents disapprove the trust the organization placed on Mr Wayile when he was deployed in this highly responsible position in Council. Mr. Wayile, NMBM Executive … [Read more...] about Orchestrated political crises in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality
Why Lifting the Moratorium on Land Sales is a BAD Idea
At the Special Council Meeting of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on 25 January 2010, the Executive Mayor Zanoxolo Wayile announced the lifting of the moratorium on the sale of Municipal Land. In the same breath he said that the moratorium was being lifted only with special pre-conditions attached. At the council meeting Wayile refused to reveal these special conditions. Naturally we all know (or suspect) that these 'pre-conditions' on the sale of Municipal land will be of a social and … [Read more...] about Why Lifting the Moratorium on Land Sales is a BAD Idea
