After the United Democratic Movement (UDM) failed to attend a full sitting of council yesterday, leaving their coalition partners the Democratic Alliance (DA) with two seats short of the required for a majority vote, the DA's opposition parties in the metro - ANC‚ EFF‚ UF‚ PA and AIC - walked out of the session leaving the DA powerless to make any decisions. Editor: Frankly - we as ratepayers should demand that every man/woman jack of council should be docked a day's pay for yesterday's lost … [Read more...] about UDM-DA: When the tail wags the dog

Mongameli Bobani on fire
At today's Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality council meeting the opposition parties of the DA, UDM and COPE staged a walkout - but, two DA members stayed behind, giving council a quorum which allowed them to continue with the business of the day and approve all items on white and (we presume) green paper. He must humble … [Read more...] about UDM takes Ward 30 from ANC
General Holomisa’s Speech in Umtata
Last Saturday I was lucky enough by chance able to watch on SABC 2 General Holomisa's speech which he gave in Umtata during the release of the UDM's Election Manifesto. His speech, which went on for about forty-five minutes in both English & Xhosa, was delivered without any notes. In my opinion he outclassed most if not all of the other political party leaders in presentation & content. He was able to pinpoint & summarise in a way everyone could understand why service delivery … [Read more...] about General Holomisa’s Speech in Umtata
