Both Erin Gallagher and Tatjana Smith made strong opening statements on the first day of action at the SA National Swimming Championships in Gqeberha on Monday. SAPS Mount Road detectives arrested three alleged housebreaking suspects during the early hours of Friday morning (23 September 2016). It is alleged that during July to September 2016, the complainant was overseas when his house was broken into in 7th Avenue Newton Park. The Nedbank Madibaz swimming club are taking the plunge and hosting their first ever gala in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, August 29. More than 170 swimmers are expected to descend on the Newton Park Indoor Swimming Pool for what is hoped will become an annual fixture on the aquatics calendar. Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to alert motorists that 3rd Avenue Dip in Newton Park will be closed on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 09h00 to 12h00. At 11:00 am tomorrow - Friday 24 October 2014 - one of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's assets, the internationally recognised Newton Park Swimming Pool, will re-open to swimmers and for the hosting of events, following its refurbishment. Newton Park Pool closed for 6 months with no end in sight

The Newton Park Swimming Pool has been closed to the public for more than 6 months and there appears to be no end in sight. The pool was closed for routine maintenance in July 2013. When defective tiling was discovered along the floor and walls of the pool it was then closed indefinitely. This incident followed the embarrassing pool closure during the SA National Swimming Championships in April last year when the pool turned green and disrupted the gala.
