Along the way predators such as dolphins, sharks, gannets, penguins and whales feast on the sardines. Great Success and Joy for 38 Graduates

7 February 2019 By Alan Straton

Carlo and Kyle

“My heart is full of gratitude as I think of the journey I have travelled since I became a part of this programme. I was lost, had been rejected a few times and had given up. The Umzi Wethu programme turned my life around. After each day I was full of hope, after every session I felt revived and after time spent in class I was reminded once again that my life mattered, my situation was not permanent, that I would conquer depression and anxiety, and that I would rise above all obstacles”. Why are these Dead Sardines floating in Algoa Bay?

11 September 2018 By Alan Straton

Dead Sardines

These images come from local Ecotourism outfit AB Marine who report seeing a long line of "thousands of dead sardines floating on the surface of Algoa Bay close to St Croix Island." The theory is that these fish are the product of over fishing and have been dumped at sea from fishing boats before entering the Port of Port Elizabeth for inspection by officials. If this is true then this represents a rape of of fishery stock on a large scale. … [Read more...] about Why are these Dead Sardines floating in Algoa Bay?

Sail on, Sail off

MyPE was sent this image today by AB Marine of a Submersible Cargo Ship off of the Port of Nqura. It got us to thinking that these 'Sail On, Sail Off' vessels should be named; "So-So's" for "Sail On, Sail Off" just like their Ro-Ro (Roll On, Roll Off) counterparts! Spotted off of the AB Marine Whale watching vessel today outside the Nqura Harbour. #portelizabeth #algoabay #abmarine #coega #nqura #whalewatching #alanstraton #mype - Taken by the Editor whilst wandering aimlessly about … [Read more...] about We have Ro-Ro’s and So-So’s
