In the last four weeks some areas, especially on the Western side of Nelson Mandela Bay have suffered water shortages.
These shortages have been due to high water consumption and low dam levels supplying the Western side of the City.
This has led to areas like KwaNobuhle going without water.
The reality is that there is only 260 mega liters per day available while our current consumption is at about 290 mega liters per day.
Nooitgedagt supplies 55% of the water. The dams on the west deal with the rest.
Churchill / Impofu has 50% and Kouga / Loerie 70% water restrictions. Therefore the NMBM has a daily water deficit of 40 to 50 mega liters per day.
We urgently need to reduce water consumption to 250 mega liters per day.
We urge all residents to reduce consumption drastically so that all consumers can have water!
