Praise for local Yacht Club

The Algoa Bay Yacht Club is presently hosting the 60th SAP 5O5 World Championships. Racing in the pre worlds finished yesterday and the World Championships begins on Saturday, 28 March 2015.

The official opening and flag raising ceremony took place on the Donkin reserve and at City Hall last night. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality treated sailors from 4 continents to a civic reception at the City Hall and, during the official welcoming speech by the Deputy Executive Mayor, Chippa Ngcolomba, he said; “It would be remiss of me if we do not commend and congratulate the host, the Algoa Bay Yacht Club and wish them a 60th World Championship filled with great success and spin-offs that will continue to add exponential value to our city. Keep doing what you are doing to promote our beautiful city and we look forward to continuing our wonderful relationship for many years to come. Well done guys!”

With 80 volunteers who have given up their time in busy schedules to ensure that the sailors have a great time and are well looked after to allow them to perform at peak the members of Algoa Bay Yacht Club can be proud that they are helping to show the world just how friendly and efficient the citizens of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch are.

The World Championships event is being broadcast live online and will live on in promotional clips taken to subsequent host cities by the main sponsors, SAP.
