The docking of the World Odyssey at the Port of Cape Town signifies the beginning of South Africa’s cruise season, which will see the docking and sailing of 268 passenger liners at the commercial seaports operated by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). The vessel arrived on 22 October 2024 at the port renowned for being a popular stopover for cruise liners and was recently voted as Africa’s Leading Cruise Port in the 31st Annual World Travel Awards. The South African Sailing community were once again in celebratory mood after Kirsten Neuschäfer was named the country’s Sportswoman of the Year at the SA Sports Awards on Sunday night. Algoa Bay Sailors Continue to Represent at Cape 2 Rio Yacht Race

#SASailing75th anniversary celebrations aim to be largest sailing event in Africa

Offshore sailing in Nelson Mandela Bay has been through many ups and downs these last few years.The now defunct Algoa Bay Yacht Club was based in the Port of Port Elizabeth for 57 years and chucked out by Transnet over a rental dispute. 2021 International Laser Class Regatta – Gqeberha

The 2021 International Laser Class sailed their National Championships in Algoa Bay, Gqeberha from 1 to 4 October 2021.Hosted by the Redhouse Yacht Club and Sailing PE the 54 entrants sailed 10 races over three days with Saturday being blown out. The Algoa Bay Weather Didn’t disappoint Laser Sailors contesting the 2021 Laser Nationals from 1 to 4 OCtober 2021.
