PE Gang Related Shootings – Update

It is alleged that on Tuesday, 9 February 2016 at about 09:30, occupants travelling in a Nissan open bakkie were shot at on the M4 Port Elizabeth bound. The two occupants aged 19 and 25 years old seated at the back of the bakkie were injured. The female was shot in her left leg and the male in his left arm and left foot. The complainant’s vehicle was travelling in the middle lane when the suspects approached on the fast lane and opened fire. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment. Police are investigating 2 counts of attempted murder.

In another incident, at about 10:00, a 33 year old man was fatally wounded while another person was injured in a shooting incident on the Kleinskool main road. It is alleged that the suspects shot at the complainant’s vehicle from a taxi. The complainant drove his VW Golf to SAPS Algoa Park and reported the incident. He sustained two gunshot wounds (one in his back and one in his hand). He was taken to hospital for treatment. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.

In both incidents, no suspects are arrested. Police are appealing to the communities in the Northern areas to come forward and report these criminals who are continuing to disrupt peace in the lives of law abiding citizens. Information may be reported anonymously on 08600 10111.
