Relentless efforts made by SAPS members and investigators in arresting gang affiliates and securing convictions in the Northern areas is proving to be successful. It is alleged that at about 07:50 on 19 February, a 29 year old known gangster was shot and wounded outside a primary school in Shauderville Port Elizabeth. The man had just dropped off his fiancé, a teacher at the school and as he drove out the school gates, shots were fired from a white VW Golf. It is alleged that on Tuesday, 9 February 2016 at about 09:30, occupants travelling in a Nissan open bakkie were shot at on the M4 Port Elizabeth bound. The two occupants aged 19 and 25 years old seated at the back of the bakkie were injured. The female was shot in her left leg and the male in his left arm and left foot. The complainant’s vehicle was travelling in the middle lane when the suspects approached on the fast lane and opened fire. Port Elizabeth - In the last week at least two people have been killed and several people injured in the crossfire as turf wars between local gangs in the Northern Areas have flared up.
