ANC’s failed attempt to collapse the Council meeting , was an irrelevant deed of ignorance

The ANC only believe in political bulldozing and blackmail, as a way of engagement.

To me, they appear to be stuck on this obsolete strategy.

They opposed the DA motion without even reading the rule that the DA councilor was relying on.

My view was that, personally, I was not going to accept an extension of the role of interim speaker.

When I accepted the nomination, it was because I understood it to be a one day appointment.

I signed the nomination form on those grounds.

Although, I accept that the DA councilor was in order to raise the point he was raising. That point in my opinion was addressing how the issue of an interim speaker is dealt with, not necessarily, Khusta Jack.

The DA or anyone who held that opposing view, in my understanding, they should have raised their point after the COGTA official said the appointment was a one day matter.

They waited to the end. Although, they did express their reasons. I was not going to entertain them.

That is my ground in believing that the ANC was misdirected on the matter.

Even when I told them that, I am not going to avail myself in yesterday’s meeting as a Speaker for any day extra.

They were so scared that the Nqwazi motion was going to be tabled and discussed,(even though I told them that the motion was not going to be discussed) they decided to act recklessly.

I asked them to engage Councilor Kruger’s motion, by first reading and understanding the rule of order he was quoting. That was too much an ask to their representatives, ie, Luyolo Nqakula and Chief Whip Wandile Jikeka.

The DA, on the other hand, cannot claim kudos for the passing of yesterday’s budget items.

The DA, was entirely responsible for the failure to pass the Adjusted Budget. On three occasions, it was playing to the political fantasies of the EFF.

The DA has learn nothing from their unreasonable yielding to EFF, as they did, with devastating consequences to the Metro property, when they unprocedurally silenced the EFF by agreeing to unplanned, unbudgeted insourcing of security offices.

The close to a Billion rands destruction of swimming pools, community Halls, Libraries stadiums and many other public amenities, is as a consequence of political expediency.

My point is, in NMBM Council, both the DA and ANC have not covered themselves in glory.
