Many Suburbs Without Electricity Supply

5 September 2011 By NMB Communications

Electricity supply to a large area of Nelson Mandela Bay is currently affected due to an Earth Conductor that came down and as a result affected supply from the Chatty/Ditchling sub station.

Workers are working hard to restore supply to areas such as New Brighton, Newton Park, Malabar, Kragga Kamma, Walmer, Central, William Moffett, Westering, Linton Grange, Gelvandale, Helenvale, Neave Industrial, North End Industrial and some peri-urban areas amongst others.

Supply to Nelson Mandela Bay’s award-winning stadium has been restored and although no timeframe is available for the restoration of supply, we are hoping to have all areas back on by tonight.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s call centre for water and sanitation is also affected by the outage as digital phones are not functioning at this stage.

This means that the public will not be able to report water leaks and sanitation matters to the 0800 20 50 50. This inconvenience will be resolved as soon as supply is back on.

Yip, also dropped in my inbox this morning only… me thinks they may have had some server issues due to the blackout that were only resolved this am.
