29 May 2021 By Alan Straton

ELLUBEDINE MAY is a Poetry based in 128 Lawler Street Schauderville Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay.

ELLUBEDINE MAY says:

Ellubedine May aka( Lubby )is a young dynamic spoken word artist and performance poet.

Who does cinematic poetry that is meant to reflect society as well as start conversations about issues that matter but may not be focused on?

Lubby has been writing poetry since she was 13 years old. she’s a bookworm when, it comes to fiction novels, biographies, and autobiographies. she earned her pair of spectacles from reading in the morning into the dim lighting.

She has 3 sisters and 3 brothers, she is the equator to their equation ‘the middle child’, a poet who resides in Gqeberha.

Poetry became her voice, she is a storyteller at heart who uses poetry as a way of healing and telling stories about her community and experiences and she has journeyed from being an introvert to a bloomer with a message through performance…
She has previously written under the name Tulip and as shyly performed at NMU south and north campus, Eclipse unplugged sessions, Unplugged Sunday sessions and has graced numerous stages such as the National Arts Festival (Literature Festival 2019), (2019) Free State Literature Festival ), the language indaba 2020 and recently released her book titled ‘Dairy Of Love and Pain’ in 2019. with 2021 being only 10 days she managed to achieve the international poetry title at the pledgenexus contest

Her aura is contagious and she defines herself as a free spirit and writer. Ellubedines love for reading and poetry has prompted her to start her own NPO called Little Minds Read is a social program that trains kids from 4 years old and young people from 16 years old in chess, reading skills, and other literary development activities. The Little Minds Read program, piloted last year with about 50 participants from Schauderville, Gelvandale, New Brighton and surroundings are currently in its registration process as an annual project that will cover the footprint of Nelson Mandela Bay.

Chief Cook, Bottle Washer and Broom Mechanic at MyPE
Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
