Kings Music of Choice

24 February 2011 By Siyathetha

Algoa FM, the “proudly Eastern Cape” radio station, announced on Tuesday, February 22, that it is the official radio sponsor for the EP Kings rugby team. “We’re incredibly excited to announce that Algoa FM is officially sponsoring the EP Kings,” says Algoa FM managing director, Dave Tiltmann. “We’re backing our boys all the way to the Currie Cup and beyond – let’s bring the trophies to the Eastern Cape!”

One of the slogans adopted by the EP Kings is “Bringing the boys back home and keeping the boys at home”. This signals the intent of the EP Rugby Union to focus internally and to give a great deal of attention to its home grown talent.

“We are excited to have Algoa FM as our media partner,” says Debbie Ellis, EP Rugby administration and team operations manger. “Algoa FM is a reputable brand that has had a long and positive history with this region. We, as EP Rugby, believe that both organizations shall prosper with this partnership and we look forward to a long and sustainable business, and strategic, relationship with Algoa FM.”

The EP Kings meet Namibia at the NMB Stadium on Friday 25 February at 7:00 pm.

Editors Notes: Algoa please take note – Mzwandile Stick, the EP Kings Captain, loves R&B, Ross Kennedy prefers The Killers, Paul Perez likes a bit of Reggae, Siyanda Grey chooses John Lennon, Milo Nqoro is a Gospel man, De Wet Barry supports local in Prime Circle, Jaco van Schalkwyk rocks to U2, Frank Herne is a Queen fan (ooops Frankie nearly left out ‘fan’!), SP Marais shares De Wet Barry’s taste in music, Phil Mack is true to his vocation as strength and conditioning coach and digs Cold Play, backline Coach David Maidza has a soft spot for Mariah Carey and Robbie Kempson chooses Lilly Allen.

Me, I am partial to a bit of Talking Heads – ask Dave Tiltmann who that is – Jimmy Hendrix and a bit of reggae. That will do for now, thanks very much.

I’m just always very sad that Algoa FM doesn’t support its Afrikaans followers and refuses to play Afrikaans music.
