The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan review process has kicked off to a good start. On Friday 18 August 2017 the Municipality held two successful meetings with Councillors and the newly elected Ward Committees at the George Botha Community Hall in KwaNoxolo.
The two meetings were held to empower Councillors and Ward Committees about IDP review processes and their role and responsibilities in that regard.
These meetings will be followed by public participation meetings, which will start on Monday, August 18-24, 2017 in different venues across the City. Council Speaker Jonathan Lawack commented that the two meetings held today were a solid base for the implementation of a successful public participation programme.
“Public participation is a critical element of what the current government promised the people. We treat this exercise very seriously and call upon the residents of the City to come out in numbers to contribute at these meetings so that whatever Plan is produced, will be a true reflection of their aspirations. Creating an inclusive City that opens opportunities with a forward thinking approach must always be in our minds as we all participate in this review process,” said Councillor Lawack.
