Nelson Mandela Bay motorists should remain calm tomorrow (Tuesday, 22 February) when the eyes of the international cycling community will be on Nelson Mandela Bay for the Cell C Tour of South Africa.
Rolling road closures require some discipline and understanding from public motorists as well as a commitment to obey traffic officials and marshals.
In total 14 international teams are competing in this competition in perhaps the biggest international cycling event since we last had a cycling of similar magnitude 21 years ago.
The Nelson Mandela Bay leg entails the following:
Tuesday 22 February: 173km – Port Elizabeth to Port Elizabeth – Starting at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, stage 3 heads towards the Addo Elephant National Park where one is sure to catch a few glimpses of wildlife (it is home to the Big Seven). From there the race returns to Port Elizabeth, where the route takes an interesting turn, with a city circuit, before finishing in Summer Strand on the beach front.
See more about the Tour and the ROAD CLOSURES here: Tour de Addo.
