As part of the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) upgrades in the process of changing the face of Nelson Mandela Bay for the better, Zwide’s Koyana Street will be closed between Sakuba and Qeqe Streets for an extended period.
Deputy Executive Mayor Thando Ngcolomba said the closure will start tomorrow (31 May) and end by December to allow for the R70 million construction of a dual carriageway from Kani Street to Qeqe Street with the appurtenant services.
“Only residents will be allowed to enter the area while construction is underway. Some work will still proceed after eight months but a decision will be taken how to deal with the impact on road users,” he said.
