28 March Coega Development Corporation 15km RACE & 5km Fun Run-Walk Postponed Following the declaration by the President of South Africa, His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa of a national state of disaster due to the outbreak on COVID-19. The Coega Development Corporation received correspondence from the Eastern Province Athletics (EPA) announcing the postponement all race events scheduled between now and end of April. This weekend see the popular Urban Run taking place from the Donkin Reserve, Port Elizabeth, with a whole festival of activity planned. This fun charity obstacle run through the city centre, hosted by the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA), has raised over R1 million for charity since inception whilst highlighting current urban renewal in the city. Uitenhage - Despite the cold and rainy weather, the annual Volkswagen Road Race brought more than 1 000 enthusiastic runners to the VW PeoplePavilion on Saturday 17 August, to put their athleticism to the test in a 10km race and 5km fun run. The 6th edition of the Train Race took place in Nelson Mandela Bay in near perfect running conditions on Sunday. it was the Train that crossed the line first in a time of 1 hour and 46 minutes, just 6 minutes ahead of the first running team, the Gamble Socials. The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was a buzz on Tuesday evening for the 3rd and penultimate round of Nelson Mandela Bay's unique Town Lodge Business Night Relay with just under 100 running and walking teams taking part. The warm winters evening weather continued for the Series as the Men's team from the SPAR Eastern Cape DC won their 2nd race of the season ahead of Gamble Pharmacy and Motor Vehicle Spares in a fast time of 56 minutes 48 seconds. The Train Race Duathlon will hit its pinnacle in the Eastern Cape this month when ultimate man versus machine rivalry continues. There was great excitement at Nelson Mandela Bay's unique Town Lodge Business Night Relay on Tuesday evening when defending champions Gamble Pharmacy got beaten for the first time since 2014. Nelson Mandela Bay's unique Town Lodge Business Night Relay got off to a great start on Tuesday evening at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium with just under 75 teams taking part in the monthly winter corporate relay event.
