Not the Usual Suspects for Night Relay Round 3

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was a buzz on Tuesday evening for the 3rd and penultimate round of Nelson Mandela Bay’s unique Town Lodge Business Night Relay with just under 100 running and walking teams taking part.

The warm winters evening weather continued for the Series as the Men’s team from the SPAR Eastern Cape DC won their 2nd race of the season ahead of Gamble Pharmacy and Motor Vehicle Spares in a fast time of 56 minutes 48 seconds. SPAR also claimed the gold medal in the Ladies category finishing in 1 hour 24 minutes ahead of the ladies from Friedman Scheckter and Varsity College 5.

Gamble Pharmacy won the mixed relay category in a time of 1 hour 7 minutes ahead of Varsity College 2 and team BBF Alpha whilst Concord Cranes continued their domination of the Walking Category in a time of 1 hour 15 minutes with ETA PE 2 in 2nd place and PW Harvey walkers in 3rd place.

“We are extremely pleased with the support we are getting this season from the local teams and this bodes well for our Train Race relay race which takes place on the 18th August” said Zsports Marketing Manager Niel Du Preez.

The Town Lodge Business Night Relay takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month with the final round for 2019 taking place on Tuesday 13th August and entries are already open on the website. Running teams are to comprise of 5 runners whilst working teams are for 3 walkers with each team member having to complete a 3.5km loop within the stadium precinct.
