Marc Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

6 August 2024 By Port Elizabethan

Letters to the Editor

On 05/08/2024 Marc voted Yes in our poll on ending punitive water tariffs. Marc Says: A thesis could be written on the matter, viewing it from multiple perspectives, but let's just restore the situation to where we were before the 'emergency' for now; what we elect to do going forward is another matter, and to conflagration the two would only amount to obfuscation. Have your say here: All responses are also submitted to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Director of Water. … [Read more...] about Marc Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

Zahn Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

5 August 2024 By Port Elizabethan

Letters to the Editor

On 05/08/2024 Zahn voted Yes in our poll on ending punitive water tariffs. Zahn Says: We have plentiful supply of water in our dams and we still use water sparingly. End the punitive measures NOW because I am tired of paying for something that's unnecessary. Just because Council and the municipality don't know how to spend our rates properly and always seem to be in the red doesn't mean we, the ratepayers and consumers should foot the bill.. Everyone is struggling financially - we … [Read more...] about Zahn Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

John Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

5 August 2024 By Port Elizabethan

Letters to the Editor

On 05/08/2024 John voted Yes in our poll on ending punitive water tariffs. John Says: Dams are sufficiently full to put a full end the water restrictions and punitive tariffs. In addition, the Gariep Dam offers back up if needed. The main reason to end the restrictions and punitive tariffs is however to ensure that we have a mechanism to curb water usage when the next drought comes along. If we maintain the restrictions and punitive tariffs now, then how will we restrict usage in the next … [Read more...] about John Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

On 05/08/2024 George voted Yes in our poll on ending punitive water tariffs. George Says: Our dams have remained above 60% for 11 months now. We have been under these punitive tariffs for more years than I  can count. Have your say here: All responses are also submitted to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Director of Water. … [Read more...] about George’s Comments on #EndPunitiveWaterTariffsNow

Earlier I Said That NMB’s Excuses Around Punitive Water Tariffs Were ‘Illogical’

30 July 2024 By Port Elizabethan

Letters to the Editor

And now the DA and National Government seem to agree! [Listen to Cllr Dries van der Westhuizen speak on this] Dear Editor Confirmation by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) that it has not imposed punitive water tariffs on Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) is a clear indication that the municipality’s refusal to do away with these tariffs is unnecessary and an intentional decision to continue to milk cash strapped consumers dry. In response to a letter by the DA to provide clarity … [Read more...] about Earlier I Said That NMB’s Excuses Around Punitive Water Tariffs Were ‘Illogical’
