The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality extends Monday’s call to some residents to use water for essential purposes only, is now being extended to all residents in the city as the water levels at our reservoirs are currently running low.
The breakdown in power supply has affected our ability to treat water which means we have a limited supply of water in Nelson Mandela Bay at the moment.
This follows after a 66kV tower was toppled by strong wind on Sunday. The electricity department worked around the clock to restore supply and we are hopeful that supply to all areas will be restored by tonight.
This means that it will take another 24 to 48 hour period to recover and we will then be able to pump and treat water from the dams as usual.
