Over on the causes.com web site a petition titled; “Australia We need Your Intervention To Stop White Genocide in South Africa” is running. Asof the time of writing 7041 people had signed the petition. A goal of 100 000 signatures has been set by the petition founder, Cara-Lee Wiese.
The petition is the standard blah blah blah about how whites are persecuted and killed in the new South Africa and moans about the new racism. I, for one am no friend of the BEE couched as racism that is becomingly increasingly draconian. (Related Article: Employment Application Form South African Style) The next logical BEE step for our government would be to insist that relationships and marriage are a true reflection of our wonderful nation.
Happy Days would then ensue for White males in South Africa. I am quite looking forward to doing a Zuma and adding a couple of wives to my collection. Whites make up 9% of the population, Indian/Asian 2.5%, Coloured 9% and African 79.5%.
In order to be ahead of the Relationship BEE pack I am looking for 1 Coloured and 7 black women (Thandi you may come back to PE to make up the 8 required) applicants who fulfil the following requirements:
- Washing – send image of yourself in the shower
- Ironing – in french maid outfit
- Fornicating – no weird images please
- Entertaining – I have a stripper pole looking for a partner
- Cooking – that whole Nigella look does it for me – heaving flour dusted breasts
- Car washing – send image in bikini with suds
- Gardening – proven experience in growing mealies and malt for Umqombothi

Such alarming campaigns, if they would gather momentum, could easily cause the world to loose confidence in the country — leading to disinvestment and an outflow of money exactly when it is needed the most. We need a balanced approach to our problems. South Africa is no more violent than quite a few parts of the USA. And is not as if every white South African is experiencing unbearable persecution and crying out to Australia to grant them asylum. Far from it. Australia would be a very nice place to stay for many people, that is true, but it is not as if droves are trying to flee there but are not granted “asylum”. White people argue that they deserve some special place in South Africa because they brought law, wealth, roads and infrastructure to Africa. Now white people are crying foul when black people treat white people in exactly the same way that white people treated black people from the day that white people landed in Africa. The petition itself is racist in that it presumes white people are so special that they need to be protected.”

Well if you do not come right in Australia, my South African brother in law and a number of other South Africans have in fact been granted asylum in the good old USA. It is probably just not widely publicised, but yes if you put a good case together on how your family has been murdered, how you cannot get into University because of the 80/20 principle and how you do not qualify for a bursary because you are white (oh but it can work for you – my son buys books for next to nothing from the black fellows with the mega bursaries – you go along to the book shop armed with your few hundred rand and hand it to the fellas that have no intention of really studying -they get “your books” on their account and there you go. You have to learn how to make the system work a bit for you as well.) You are unemployed and as a white male it is fact that you will not get employement and blah blah you will be granted asylum. So you do not have to beg the Australians to get in.
Now my nephew has the benefit of free tertiary education and they live it up in peace in large wide open spaces with many South Africa neighbours and they can buy Ouma beskuit and marmite and Black Cat peanut butter from the SA shop online delivered to their door.
So keep both of your petitions but if you would like to know what it is like to be under seige on a farm and attacked and blasted with a shot gun because you are white speak to me I can tell you all the gory details of the attack on my defenceless mother!

For the last few hours I have found myself falling into a deep depression and experiencing a widening sense of loss at the stupid actions that South Africans are taking that widen and focus on our differences. As a white 40 something male I am the prime ‘loser’ in the BEE equation. Curiously I do NOT find find myself being bitter and rushing off to blame every black person I come into contact with.
Those people who actually thought that there would be no ‘balancing of the scales’ after 1994 only have themselves to blame. In the simplest things – like when a company is bought by another – it is inevitable that there will be change and those that support the new will retain their position. The same WILL happen when a new political party takes over a government – they need that to happen in order to stay in power.
Put yourself in the position of any leader of a country who, on the one hand, has a minority of citizens (who do NOT support the leader’s political party) clamouring for attention and on the other hand, a bunch of citizens (who DO support the leader’s political party) also clamouring for attention. If you were this leader, who would you focus your attention on?

Stanton’s developmental model of the eight stages of genocide:
1. classification (“us vs. them”),
2. symbolization,
3. dehumanization,
4. organization (the formation of hate groups),
5. polarization,
6. preparation (the identification, expropriation, rounding up, and transportation of victims),
7. extermination and
8. denial.
My interpretation of whether SA is in the above stages:
1. There certainly is a lot of “us vs them” but no ONE group appears to hold ultimate control and focus on a specifically identified group, so maybe
2. Along political party lines, yes
3. Strangely here I would think that it is by the victims against their ‘supposed attackers’ so a No here
4. I wouldn’t call them hate groups, but rather opportunistic gangs targeting a vulnerable group that will not get immediate support, so a No here too.

Consider what apartheid did to people – White, Black, Coloured, Indian and Other – it totally dehumanised anyone who was not White and forced grown-ups into positions of subservience and terror.
Consider my experience – During my 14 years of security work (1985 to 1999) I had only one philosophy when it came to choosing clients; "Money has no colour!". Many of my clients were in the townships and many was the time that I, during the various states of emergency, was smuggled into areas like New Brighton, Zwide and Kwazakhele by my clients for assessments.
Right up until 1994 the forms of intimidation that I experienced were mostly political assumptions based on the colour of my skin.
After 1994 the intimidation changed from a colour based political one to greed and gangsterism. This is where we failed South Africa – the takeover was too easy, 40 years of oppression by a white minority needed a cathartic event to show the nation that we could get on and build a great South Africa – that event will now never come and we have entered a phase of slow attrition until a new political dispensation place South Africa FIRST, citizens SECOND and politicians LAST.
