Baroque ‘n Roll at the Red Ball

“Baroque ‘n Roll” your way into spring accompanied by pianist Rocco de Villiers, the man with the smooth-as-velvet voice Tim Moloi, Afro-soul superstar Gloria Bosman, Cabaret and Jazz singer Julie Hartley and The Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Graham Scott at the annual Red Ball.

The ball, to be held on September 15, will raise funds for leukaemia awareness, as the Eastern Cape has one of the highest incidences of blood disorders in the world, according to organiser Cole Cameron of the Igazi Foundation.

The 2011 Red Ball was instrumental in helping establish the new stem cell unit at PE Provincial Hospital. This 2012 Red Ball will continue to push to get the unit fully staffed and operational for the people of the Eastern Cape says Cameron.

It will be an evening of “Baroque ‘n Roll” with a full Philharmonic Orchestra and five-course dinner by a Jamie Oliver-trained Chef. The décor will be Baroque, and the orchestra will treat us to a touch of Baroque music, in addition to lots of high energy Rock ‘n Roll. There can be no better way to welcome spring,” he says.

Igazi is behind research into identifying the reasons for the high incidence of leukaemia and other blood disorders in the province. International and national sponsors of the 2012 Red Ball include Roche Pharmaceuticals, Key Oncologics, Novartis, Aspen Pharmacare, Pathcare, Ampath Baswati, Bayer Healthcare, and the Mandela Bay Municipality.

Tickets for the ball, to be held at the Feather Market Hall from 18:00 for 18:30 on Saturday, September 15, are available from Computicket for R595.00 per ticket. Dress Code: Baroque or Rock ‘n Roll or a combination of both.
