We called him Clive

4 October 2013 By Alan Straton

Last night this little fellow – actually in the eyes of the Longhair and her apprentice this little fellow assumes the proportions of a giant – sleathily appeared on my desk scaring the living daylights out of me.

I gently scooped him into a dustpan and tossed him into the rose garden – I could hear the tips of his legs scraping against the pan as he tried to scrabble up and out, not as cringeworthy as nails on a blackboard but getting close!

This morning Clive appeared once again on our porch railings – that man about town glint in his eye as he knowingly stared at the Longhair nervously drinking her coffee.

Clive is one creepy fellow who just may be taken by the pigeon that visits later to eat the left over cat food. Time will tell.

Clive the spider
Clive – Is your name Clive? Are you as creepy as this little fellow?

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
