Water Disruptions in the Metro

30 August 2013 By Ward 9

To see how hard working Ward Councillors go about their jobs, see Ward 9 councillor, Heinrich Muller’s newsletter below.

You may contact Ward 9 using the contact form at the bottom of this report.

As previously reported, due to the current strike actions going on throughout the Metro very few of the faults reported to the metro are being attended to.

As a result of the abovementioned strike actions in the metro, the following streets in Westering/Linton Grange in Ward 9 have been experiencing water disruptions since Wednesday, 28 August 2013 due to water pipe bursts:

  • Carpenter Street
  • Bramlin Street
  • Bramhope Street
  • Van Wyk Street
  • Taybank Street
  • Delphinium Street
  • Discovery Street

Kindly take note that the staff who are not on strike are also being intimidated by the striking members. A further frustration is the fact that no contracts have been renewed to hire contractors/equipment to fix these burst pipes and damaged roads (being caused by the burst pipes).

I am aware that there is currently a team working on these burst pipes, but as there are a huge number of bursts, the process is extremely slow and time consuming.

I have reported the abovementioned problems to the Metro (including the City Manager) as I feel it is inhumane for anybody to be without water for any length of time.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
