My Domestic worker was given the afternoon off on Friday to get her monthly blood pressure tablets. She had her blood pressure reading taken, after waiting most of the afternoon – then she was told that she would have to come back again, wasting even more time, so that she could get the tablets.
The nurses at the clinic advised the patients that they are understaffed and that the government won’t employ more staff. What absolute bollocks…. We won’t even talk about the brand new 8th Atve clinic which must have cost millions to build, but run a half day operation due to a lack of staff.
My question to local government is; “Why can’t chronic medication be supplied on a quarterly basis? The clinics would then only have a third of the workload to worry about and patients would waste less of their lives sitting around waiting for medication and risking contraction of far worse ailments.”

What I have since heard is that some of the nursing staff took it upon themselves to leave early as it was pay day and they wanted to go to the bank, leaving many patients wanting. Many of the patients sat there from 7am to 16:30 and left without treatment. When I have been to the clinic in the past, I have watched how the staff walk around dragging their feet, chat to eachother and are particularly rude to the patients. Does our municipality care about the livelihood of Port Elizabethans?

that is the understatement of the century, go to any of these places and expect them to actually help you. I would love to take a video of these people doing absolutely nothing. Lets not even talk about the livingstone hospital what a circus but I really feel for people that go for actual treatment.
