This Racism Thing has me Confused

I saw this retweet in the PE Twitterati Timeline earlier:

“Liberals do not kill racism, they rebrand it & camouflage it up even marry interacially to defuse & gain credentials as nonracists.”

What has me confused is:

  1. who is ‘they’,
  2. I thought that liberals were nonracist and
  3. who is the racist in the interracial marriage partnership – the man or the woman?

The two replies had me equally confused:

“just like thieves, they rebrand stealing,call it radical economic transformation.” and “Pro ANC people are liberals why compromise in 1994 why kill Hani Zuma why???WMC this WMC that everything on whites not you do wrong”

Methinks it is time to go back to the long form of conversation and give up on demanding that people express themselves adequately with a limited number of characters – clearly I am either too dumb to understand or there is an underlying shorthand at play here that I have missed.

  1. Bizarre, this whole racism dance in SA. Strikes me as though nobody WANTS to see a workable solution emerge. Maybe just want to watch the world burn ?
