The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will open Third Avenue Dip (Newton Park area) from 16:00 today for traffic as a result of the fast and efficient work by contractors after the recent floods.
The opening of this road will undoubtedly make a difference to the congestion in the William Moffett Expressway during peak hours.
Motorists are requested to exercise the necessary care when using the road as heavy machinery will still be busy next to the road for at least another month. If necessary, the road will be closed periodically for short periods in order for work to be completed. However, motorists will be informed if this is required.
Furthermore, the broadening of William Moffett Expressway from two to three lanes is still ongoing. Motorists are requested to be patient as workers are doing their best to remove the old lanes and painting new lanes from scratch.
