The Reason Why Google Loves MyPE

18 October 2011 By Alan Straton

Back in the old, pre social networking days we based the creation of MyPE on one very important piece of advice that is echoed in the words of the head of Google’s web spam team, Matt Cutts; “Try to make a site that is so fantastic you become an authority in your niche”

And, since that day, we have slavishly dedicated ourselves to only carrying news and business listings that are targeted towards Port Elizabeth and the 041 dialling code area.

Hence my small frisson of excitement upon reading in the infographic by Brafton below; “The major search engines are focusing on creating the best possible user experience, which means that sites that offer relevant information stand to gain the most visibility …….. and the benefits of producing visitor-friendly content goes far beyond rankings”

You too can do the same for your niche – dominate coffee shops, restaurants, accommodation or any other niche in your suburb and then the town by providing relevant and helpful information on your web site.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
