Diver Is Nearly Swallowed By A Whale

4 December 2014 By Port Elizabethan

Whale Rainer

A LUCKY diver has spoken of the moment he was nearly SWALLOWED by a whale. Rainer Schimpf was watching the annual sardine run when a 15m Bryde's whale attacked a ball of fish just yards away. Luckily the giant mammal swerved at the last moment to avoid smacking directly into him - but it still sent him flying as it breached. The incident was captured off the coast of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. http://youtu.be/a-Ph1CWYivg Creator: Barcroft Posted to MyPE by: Alan Straton Submit your … [Read more...] about Diver Is Nearly Swallowed By A Whale

20 October 2014 By Port Elizabethan

On 12 October the Longhair, the maternal unit, and I visited the Portuguese Club in Summerstrand for a special lunch prepared by Jose from Cubata and Shanna from Shanna's - Paella. These two spent most of the morning cooking their Paella over an open fire and elicited the help of two other strong men to ceremoniously carry the Paella Pan into the hall. Hungry diners lined up to receive plates piled high with prawns, calamari, crayfish, chorizzo, rice, chicken and "could it have been … [Read more...] about 4 Man Paella Pan at Portuguese Club

Boet Erasmus Memories

30 September 2014 By Port Elizabethan

Boet Erasmus

The Boet Erasmus Stadium was the home of many fine rugby memories and witnessed the glory of Eastern Province rugby - tough men who were afraid of no-one. Renamed Telkom Park in the 90's the local team never quite attained the heights of the glory days. Come 2009 EP Rugby vacated the Boet and moved to the new Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium built for the FIFA 2010 World Cup. Today the 'Boet' is a ruin as the city battles to find a solution. Watch the video and take one last run through the tunnel and … [Read more...] about Boet Erasmus Memories

Willie Du Plessis

The Premier Division Currie Cup game played between the EP Kings and Free State Cheetahs in Port Elizabeth at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday 20 September was not televised. SO I took one for the Cheetahs team and placed my GoPro on the field to record the Cheetahs points scored. Fifteen minutes into play, Du Plessis was at it again converting … [Read more...] about Watch the Free State Cheetahs points scored against EP Kings

Nick Mallett on EP Kings

21 September 2014 By Port Elizabethan

Nick Mallett Irie

Former Springbok Coach, Nick Mallett spoke at the recent Leadership Conference 2014 hosted by Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber. I received his permission to GoPro his presentation before "Mr Tell it like it is" went on stage we had a chat about the state of rugby and it was refreshing to hear him echo some of my thoughts around transformation - especially that we have started 20 years too late and that any players of colour that we develop are just 'snatched away' from the cradle of black … [Read more...] about Nick Mallett on EP Kings
