The opening of a new Mike's Kitchen restaurant at the Garden Court Kings Beach this week celebrated girl-power for the South African family run franchise on the Port Elizabeth beachfront. It's a family business success story for the family-focused restaurant chain, as the Veldman and Fernandes families who own the popular Mike's Kitchen in Mount Pleasant spread their wings and opened their second branch in Port Elizabeth. Franchisee Alma Veldman, who owns the two stores together with her … [Read more...] about All Female Mike’s hit the Beachfront

Phoenix Hotel Defends their Good Name
While we support the publics' right to be informed, and the Weekend Post's right to name and shame, as one of the establishments, who to our horror made your publications top ten list of worst restaurant offenders, we strongly dispute the claims made against us and request the opportunity to set the record straight. Firstly, the reports from health officials in the Weekend Post's possession were in our case dated April 2012. Maybe they will stay to have a Fanta Brown or two and have a couple of laughs. The amount of time that has gone into organising this evening's … [Read more...] about I Will (try to) Never Take a Media Event for Granted Again

Willy Fan, ex restaurant manager for both Kyoto and Lai Kung along with Joe Lin, ex head chef at Lai Kung, are the proud owners of the new Chinese and Japanese restaurant Yi Pin, which, according to Willy Fan, means "Top Class". We were greeted at the door and invited to choose our poison - a tot of Japanese Whisky … [Read more...] about Yi Pin – Top Class
Pescadiya Review
www.MyPE.co.za: The Longhair and I married young, very young. So young in fact that I think we broke the law. 28 December this year was the year of our 3rd seven year itch or more conventionally, the momentous occasion of our 21st wedding anniversary. Coming hot on the heels of Christmas and always during the time of 'Slaapstad se Mense se Kuier Tyd', the Longhair and I are ready for a bit of quiet time on our anniversary so we normally slip off to the scene of the initial crime - the Algoa … [Read more...] about Pescadiya Review
