Justin Erasmus, NSRI Port Elizabeth deputy station commander, said: "At 16h07, Sunday, 02nd August, NSRI Port Elizabeth were activated following reports from the Noordhoek Ski-Boat Club of a boat capsized at Cape Recife with 3 people onboard. "NSRI Port Elizabeth dispatched the sea rescue craft EIKOS RESCUER IV and our sea rescue vehicle, EC Government Health EMS and Coastal Rescue responded to the Noordhoek Ski-Boat Club. From 13 to 16 June 2015 teams from Western Province, Eastern Province and Gauteng will be in Port Elizabeth to take part in the South African Freediving Nationals. This is the first time that the Freediving Nationals will take place in Port Elizabeth, and it will be held in conjunction with the ever popular Wildside Dive Fest. Owners of Sea Kayak found safe on dry land and unaware of a search and rescue operation

On Thursday morning 3 July, NSRI Port Elizabeth were informed of the identity of two men who reportedly abandoned their fishing kayak at Noordhoek Beach yesterday. NSRI Port Elizabeth contacted the men who confirmed that while fishing without luck they rowed towards shore where their fishing kayak filled with water in breakers and they were forced to swim ashore. On Saturday 04 May 2013 approximately 100 boats will take to the water from the Noordhoek Ski-Boat Club in Noordhoek, Port Elizabeth totaling a field of more than 500 anglers.
