Cllr Goya passed away after a short illness. We would like extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues during this time of sorrow. Dear MyPE The Eastern Cape Department of Education is denying the learners of the Nkalweni Senior Primary School (SPS), in kuBhodi Village in the Nyandeni Municipality, their basic human right to a safe learning environment. Yesterday, 12 November 2020, I was joined by Democratic Alliance (DA) councillors in the OR Tambo Constituency in conducting an oversight inspection at this school, where learning is provided to 141 children from Gr R to 7. Dear MyPE The DA welcomes the decision by the Makhanda High Court to dismiss Nelson Mandela Bay ANC Coucillor Andile Lungisa's appeal against his conviction. Cllr Lungisa was sentenced to an effective two years in jail after he broke a glass water jug over the head of DA councillor Rano Kayser during a council meeting in 2016. Dear MyPE The DA in the Eastern Cape welcomes the judgment handed down in the PE Magistrates Court exposing the nefarious political conspiracy against Athol Trollip during the 2016 local government elections. Ms Nontutuzelo Jack alleged in 2016 that Athol Trollip had offered her a bribe to “dig up dirt” on Ms Veliswa Mvenya. Today the judge tore into Ms Jack and ripped apart her testimony.
