What began as the JBay2PE run between friends who ran from the Kabeljous River at Jeffreys Bay, swam the Gamtoos River, and legged it past Van Stadens River to finish at Maitlands River Mouth between 4 mates in 2013, 44 in 2014 and 6 as the PE2JBay in 2015 has evolved into a full blown renamed challenge - The Dolphin Challenge - which now also includes relay racing and allows Mountain Bikes to take part. Residents Urged to use Water Sparingly as Municipality works on Maitlands Pipe Crossing

Due to the continuation of repairs on the Maitlands Pipe crossing, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality calls upon residents to use water sparingly in the next few days. This appeal is based on the possibility that if residents fail to use water sparingly, the reservoirs may run empty, leading to water shortages in some areas. No funding for collapsing Maitlands road

Dear MyPE Warnings by the DA were realised last weekend when the road above the Maitlands River Mouth in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM) collapsed and poses a serious danger to motorists as it continues to deteriorate. According to the MEC for Roads and Public Works, there is no funding available for repairs. Use water sparingly for the next two weeks

Some time this morning the Churchill pipeline burst on the west side of the Maitland River and the cause is unknown at this point in time. The diameter of the pipe is 1100mm and our technical staff have been on site since this morning to assess the extent of repairs to be carried out and take immediate remedial action. One More CITES Endangered Animal Lost

This past weekend another Whale Shark was washed up on Maitlands beach, almost a year after the last Whale Shark was killed in the Port Elizabeth Harbour. These magnificent creatures represent no danger to man as they eat plankton and are common worldwide in tropical and subtropical waters. Here in Port Elizabeth we seem to be sending the message to Whale Sharks that they must come to our shores during February and March and expect to die.
