Cop killer gets life imprisonment

A man convicted of killing an Eastern Cape police officer whilst on duty in January 2015 was sentenced to life on Wednesday. Mangaliso Grootboom (28) was handed the sentence by the Port Elizabeth High court for the murder of Constable Simthembile Thandani (31). Grootboom was also condemned to a further eight-years imprisonment for attempted robbery, four-years for unlawful possession of firearm and one-year for unlawful possession of ammunition. Dear MyPE Yesterday, the DA's Ngqura Constituency office, led by Consituency Leader, Nqaba Bhanga MP, took to the streets of Ward 19 in Kwazakhele to clear hazardous debris. A 33-year-old man from Kwazakhele in Port Elizabeth will appear before the Motherwell Magistrate's Court on Monday after he was arrested for dealing in mandrax on Thursday. Port Elizabeth - Police are looking for three women who allegedly abducted a man at gunpoint and took turns raping him before fleeing with his semen. With the increase in violent crimes in the Eastern Cape, local artists have taken it upon themselves to use art to keep kids away from a life of crime.
