The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform the public that only limited services are currently rendered at the Korsten Traffic and Licensing Centre. The rescheduling of tests for learner's licenses and driver's licenses as well as the issuing of newly acquired licenses cannot be done at this stage. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to confirm that, following strike action by mainly administrative employees, the municipal Traffic Offices in Sidwell and Korsten are still closed to the public, affecting services such as the issuing of and testing for driver's licences, the payment of fines and activities at the Municipal Court. Korsten Traffic Department in dire straits – Traffic Department Chief should act now

The DA will propose in the Standing Committee meeting on Safety and Security that the Korsten Traffic Department should now close at 16h00 and not at 14h00, as is currently the situation. Last week, the Traffic Department was closed for two days and people stood in queues outside since the early hours of the morning, only to be told at 8 that the server was offline and there was no toner in the printer. Prospective clients of the Korsten Traffic Department must be mindful that due to an underground LV cable fault that resulted in an electricity outage in the area since yesterday morning (Tuesday, May 29), services are still affected to this centre. Early closure of the Driving Licence Testing Centre in Korsten on Thursday

Members of the public must please note that the Driving Licence Testing Centre in Korsten will close early at 1pm on Thursday (1 March) due to staff training. No learner's licence class or driver's tests will be conducted during the afternoon and classes will be rescheduled. The two learner's licence classes and driver's tests booked for the morning until 12:00 will still proceed as scheduled. Normal office hours will resume on Friday, 2 March at 07:45. Highfield Road to Malabar to be Opened on Saturday Morning

Remedial work on the Highfield Road to Malabar which was closed on Wednesday this week is nearing completion and the road will be opened tomorrow morning, Saturday 13 August 2011. A storm water pipe running below the surface burst and the road was beginning to collapse, posing a serious safety risk for motorists. We have stayed in the Parsons Hill Area for nigh on 12 years now and are in close proximity to two 'competing' churches who ring their bells every Sunday to call their adherents to prayer. Now the one right opposite us will ring the bell between 32 and 52 times (Ja, I am a bit weird as I like to count stuff like an idiot - but not a savant!), the other has pulled itself into the 21st century and pushes a button to sound it's clarion call electronically.
