Even amongst our own citizens we seem to have a bit of confusion as to the correct naming for cities and towns within the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality. The South African Police Service in Despatch are searching for three suspects in connection with a house robbery that occurred in the early hours (04:00) of Sunday morning, 12 March 2017 in Hobe Street, Despatch. It is alleged that the complainant and his two brothers were sleeping, when they heard a noise outside. SAPS Detectives in Despatch are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an unknown male was hit by a train at about 19:30 on 2 March. The accident occurred on the railway tracks, close to Holland Street, Heuwelkruin, Despatch. The victim was not identified and the male was wearing a pair of blue jeans, black-and-white top and black shoes. The victim had no identification in his possession. On Friday 27 January members from SAPS Despatch were busy distributing safety hints pamphlets on National Police Day in town, when they received valuable information from the community about a house robbery that occurred earlier. Dear MyPE With water losses of 45 billion litres every year and rapidly emptying dams, the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality clearly faces a growing infrastructure and lost revenue crisis. The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Uitenhage have arrested a 37-year-old Despatch man at 19:00, last night, Thursday, 28 January 2016, on 18 counts of rape, sexual assault, defeating the ends of justice and theft. Water supply problems are currently being experienced in the Despatch area resulting in no supply in some areas. Please use water sparingly. The Despatch area is currently experiencing a water supply shortfall resulting in abnormally low reservoir levels. Water tankers have already been deployed in the Reservoir Hills and Khayamnandi areas due to a disruption in supply in these suburbs. Eskom has requested the shutdown of the Kudu substation on Saturday 23 January between 05:00 and 11:30 to carry out refurbishments.
