South Africans urged to spend wisely over Christmas
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) has urged the public to be money wise over the festive season. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has started a comprehensive public participation campaign on a number of draft by-laws in order to accommodate stakeholder and public input into the bylaws as guides by Sections 12 (3)(b) and 15 of the Local Government: Municipality Systems Act, Act no. 32 of 2000. The total value of credit granted to consumers in the quarter ended December 2010 increased by 11.17 percent, the National Credit Regulator (NCR) said on Monday. "The total value of new credit granted increased from R75.14 billion for the quarter ended September 2010 to R83.53 billion for the quarter ended December 2010, an increase of 11.17 percent when compared to the previous quarter, but 31.97 percent higher than a year ago," said the regulator.
