Hi there, It may surprise you to know that not all your household rubbish ends up in a refuse dump. Household refuse is typically collected on a Thursday in Fernglen and Sunridge Park. A number of our residents put their garbage bags out for collection well before the usual collection times. In some cases I have noted bags already out by Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Municipality Settles with Jolene Sampson
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has reached an out-of-court settlement with a Port Elizabeth woman, Jolene Sampson, who claimed damages after the 2006 floods. She accused the municipality of negligence. Kayla Sampson, daughter of the then 26-year-old Sherwood schoolteacher Jolene Sampson, drowned when their car was washed into the flooded Baakens River at a low-water crossing.
