Death to the Aliens
A recent fire in the Baakens Valley Area known as Wellington Park has resulted in alien vegetation rearing it's unwanted heads in this area in the vicinity of 5th Avenue and Main Road, Walmer. A local business, LA Casual has adopted this portion of the valley in an effort to keep it free of alien vegetation gaining a foothold once again. I have been receiving numerous complaints from residents re sewage flowing into the Baakens River Valley. Hi Folks, Once again I have to report that the same sewer, in the Baakens Valley, that I have reported before, is once again overflowing. On an outing on Saturday, before the heavy rain shower, we came upon the gushing excrement. After the 18 May incident and the massive overflow in June, I was assured that it would be taken care of. This report from Steff Schenk - This afternoon (29 March) around 16h30, a member of the community called me, a young man had come out of the Baakens Valley in Gazania Avenue, Sunridge Park, pleading for help. 3 young men had been riding their mountain bikes in the valley when 2 of them were surprised by 2 Black men, one wielding a panga. Baakens Valley Concerns
We have been walking through the valley in the vicinity of Little Walmer Golf Estate for some years now. Some two years ago the alien vegetation was cleared and the beautiful fynbos emerged. For the last few years there has been no effort to clear the Port Jackson which is now rampant. Its now necessary for us to walk carrying a firearm.
